Background and client:

Reshet 13 is one of Israel’s leading commercial television networks, delivering news and entertainment across broadcast and digital platforms. The channel’s digital presence lacked clear hierarchies and consistent structure, seasonal shifts in priorities made navigation confusing, while high-engagement content was often underrepresented.

The challenge

Our effort to redesign the website and app around a balanced navigation and a clearer content structure, included also the 3 Ts:

Taboola

Each page had to include Taboola ad components, that compromise design flexibility.

Templates

Client’s assets are built on a WordPress platform using predefined templates, which significantly influence the presentation of content.

Time

A short-term, fast-paced project that required frequent touch points with client, to ensure alignment and quick decision-making.

Problem Statement

How might we balance the urgency of breaking news with the pull of entertainment to create a more engaging viewing experience?

The Solution:

Team initiated interviews & desk research, that helped us to define the experience principles, interaction patterns and content journeys. After leveling this with a quick design update, we designed the key templates and prepared for developer handoff. The new experience separated News and Entertainment into distinct content environments, with a dedicated VOD section and an app-like structure that made it easier to explore.

Three distinct destinations: news, watching, and the feed.
Clear paths between news, on-demand viewing, and magazine content.
Reshet13 News screen
Reshet13 Feed screen
A consistent mobile experience across news, live viewing, shorts, and the feed.

The Solution:

Rather than relying on a static homepage, the concept introduced a dynamic entry point that is ultimately shaped by current events and content priorities. Simplified navigation across desktop and mobile helped users reach relevant content faster, while the design system worked within the platform’s technical and commercial constraints.

Closing the project

The final phase of the project unfolded during wartime in Israel, while debate over control of the company added another layer of uncertainty. Maintaining momentum and alignment became more difficult amid changing priorities and the realities of working through the war. Bringing the work to a close highlighted how much a redesign depends on continuity and shared direction, alongside the design itself.
